Serving our Young People
Supporting the youth of the world has always been a major focus for Rotarians. To encourage personal development, projects have been, and are, focussed on children, youth and young adults at all levels from local to international, and assistance has been provided to relieve poverty and deprivation.
Training courses are offered via schools and welfare organisations for young people in our communities to develop leadership, communication and team-working skills.STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) training courses are also available.
For school-age children, competitions are organised for young musicians, chefs and golfers.
The club is particular proud of its annual "Youth Speaks" competition in and between our local primary schools. Every participating school holds its own competition. Its winner represents the school in a grand final. The standards achieved are amazing and every entrant receives the gift of a dictionary
Rotary offers international scholarships and fellowships for young adults to further their educational, professional and personal skills. Several residents in our area have been able to take advantage of these opportunities.
